Board Certified Veterinary Cardiologist

We are seeking a full-time board certified veterinary cardiologist for our 24-hour specialty and emergency/critical care center.  MVMC is located in a new 15,000 sq. ft. hospital with full in-house lab capabilities, fluoroscopy suite for interventional cardiology, helical 16-slice CT, MRI, digital radiography, in-house telemetric monitoring, ultrasound, advanced surgical procedures, and endoscopy. You will be joining three neurologists, two internists, two surgeons, one oncologist, one ophthalmologist, a certified rehabilitation veterinarian, and a great team of emergency clinicians to offer advanced services to a well-educated client base. Scarborough is located on the coast just outside Portland and is minutes away from city culture, art, food, and music, as well as recreation and beauty of mountains, lakes, and the ocean. Board Certified Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarian

MVMC is seeking a full-time veterinary criticalist who is board certified in emergency and critical care for our 24-hour specialty and emergency/critical care center.  MVMC is located in a new 15,000 sq. ft. hospital with full in-house lab capabilities, helical CT, MRI, DR, Ultrasound, and Endoscopy. Requirements

Essential job functions:

 

  • Maintains and improves quality of medical procedures.
  • Answers client questions and concerns regarding medical procedures and patient status.
  • Oversight and direction of medical standards and quality of care.
  • Establishment of medical protocols in conjunction with DVM staff.
  • Present oneself in a professional manner and act accordingly.


 Other duties & responsibilities:

 

  • Communicate with referring veterinarians
  • Communicate and work closely with MVMC Specialty veterinarians
  • Participates in the recruiting and interviewing process for DVMs, and when appropriate, general staff members.
  • Monitors DVM performance.
  • Develops and monitors hospital-specific client compliance protocols and procedures.
  • Partners with the Hospital Manager to make hiring and termination recommendations.
  • Assists in the development and delivery of staff training programs.
  • Creates a positive work environment and works with Human Resources and Hospital Manager to resolve staff problems, concerns, and conflicts.
  • Develops a workplace conducive to high employee morale, ensuring positive working relationships between clients and staff.
  • Handle people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
  • Participate in ongoing education, seminars and training's as appropriate.
  • Perform other or collateral duties as required to better serve animals, their owners and the referring veterinarians

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED:


  • Diplomate of American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care
  • 2 years of experience practicing veterinary medicine in a Veterinary Emergency Hospital setting.


Board Certified Neurologist

Maine Veterinary Medical Center (MVMC) is seeking a full or part time board certified Neurologist/Neurosurgeon to join our 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in Scarborough, Maine. 

You will be joining our team of three neurologists, two internists, two surgeons, an oncologist, an ophthalmologist and a certified rehabilitation veterinarian. In addition to our Board Certified Specialists we have a wonderful staff of emergency doctors and technicians who are here to deliver the highest quality medical care to our patients 24/7. Some of our specialty technicians have been with us for over two decades. 

We are looking for an addition to the current high volume neurology service that sees referrals from all of New England. The support staff includes highly capable LVTs as certified neurology technicians. There is an established case load of both medical and surgical neurology with an excellent reputation in the community. 

To support such a varied and experienced veterinary team, the hospital has an in-house laboratory and all the latest equipment, including but not limited to: digital radiology, helical CT, MRI, Cadwell electrodiagnostics, operating microscope, minimally invasive equipment and ultrasound.  

Our 15,000-sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility, with manicured landscaping, a generous fenced in yard and walking trails won the 2010 Hospital Design People's Choice Award and has been featured in many hospital design advertisements. We have plans for a 2,500-sq foot expansion. adding additional exam rooms and expanding our current intensive care unit.

Patient Care Coordinator (FT/PT)

Candidate should be licensed in Maine and have at least three years of Veterinary experience as an LVT. Must have knowledge of Veterinary Specialty Services and a proficiency in all medical terminology as it relates to veterinary medicine. Ability to work a weekend daily schedule. Have excellent communication and customer service skills as well as attention to detail a must. Able to handle stressful and emergent situations in a calm and supportive manner. Candidate should have a willingness to learn and complete training as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities. Must have a strong client services background. LVT for ER (FT/PT/PER DIEM) 

Candidate should be licensed in Maine and have at least two years of Veterinary experience as an LVT or Assistant prior to licensure. Able to work a flexible schedule in our fast-paced 365-day 24/7 ER. LVT is either assigned as primary nurse in intensive care or triage nurse on an outpatient basis. Both have very different roles but work together to execute the highest standard of care. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Will train the right candidate. LVT for Ophthalmology 

Candidate should be licensed in Maine and have at least two years of Veterinary experience as an LVT or Assistant prior to licensure. Ophthalmic experience would be ideal, will train the right candidate. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including staying late for emergencies with some weekend call-in(s). Able to handle stressful and emergent situations in a calm and supportive manner. Excellent communication and customer service skills a must. Should be proficient in Anesthetic induction, monitoring, maintenance (including mechanical ventilation) and recovery.

Veterinary Technician Assistant (FT/PT/PER DIEM) 

Candidate should have above average communication and technical skills as well as customer service skills. Certification is highly preferred. We will only consider individuals that display compassion, understanding and superior care for our patients and will work above and beyond towards achieving positive outcomes. We have a full or part-time shift opening to include nights, weekends and holidays. Attention to detail a must. Able to handle stressful and emergent situations in a calm and supportive manner.
