Katie Lopez, DVM
Dr. Lopez completed her undergraduate education in Virginia, where she received a BS in biology from James Madison University. She went on to receive her DVM from Tufts University in 2018. Dr. Lopez stayed on at Tufts, where she completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery, followed by a cardiology residency. Upon completion of her residency, Dr. Lopez received board certification in cardiology from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
While every aspect of cardiology is fascinating, Dr. Lopez particularly enjoys managing patients with valvular heart disease and cardiomyopathy, as well as long-term management of congestive heart failure and arrhythmias. She strongly believes that building a relationship with both the patient and their owners is an important part of long-term cardiac management and is excited to be building a service where that is the cornerstone of care.
Dr. Lopez grew up in southern Maine and is thrilled to be returning to practice in the area. Outside of work, she enjoys partaking in all the outdoor activities that Maine offers, as well as spending time with her partner Nick and their two rambunctious cats, Tiny and Smalls.
Dr. Lopez is dedicated to diagnosing, managing, and treating disorders of the heart and cardiovascular system.
