Heather York, DVM, CCRT
Dr. Heather York graduated with Honors from the University of Vermont, with Bachelor degrees in Animal/Dairy science and Biological sciences. After graduation, Dr. York worked as an International Training Specialist for Ben & Jerry’s Homemade, followed by a position as an instructor at the University of Vermont, in the Department of Animal Science.
After receiving her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Massey University in New Zealand, Dr. York completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists, in Rhode Island, and a surgical internship at the Animal Specialty Center, in New York City. During her internships, Dr. York discovered a passion for orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation medicine and was later awarded a Fellowship at Veterinary Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Group in Maryland, with primary focus on orthopedic surgery, regenerative medicine, rehabilitation and sports medicine. During this time, Dr. York completed extensive training and obtained national certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) from the Canine Rehab Institute.
Dr. York returned to her native New England in 2014 to practice Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Her special interests include orthotics and prosthetics, geriatric medicine, osteoarthritis and pain management.
In her free time Dr. York enjoys sailing, mountain biking, trail running and winter sports with her Golden Retrievers, Madison and Cabot.
