Lisa Benson, DVM
Dr. Benson earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University. During veterinary school, she was awarded a grant from the National Institute of Health to research stem cell migration and its application in orthopedic and regenerative veterinary medicine. After earning her DVM, she completed a rigorous rotating internship at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, MA, a Level 1 Emergency-Critical Care Center.
Dr. Benson has a strong interest in emergency medicine and holds certifications in Basic and Advanced Life Support, which includes the most current standards of care for your pet. Additionally, she is certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture in both large and small animals. She is currently completing an advanced certification in Companion Animal Pain Management.
Dr. Benson has also worked in diverse settings including sea turtle research in Baja, Mexico, providing spay/neuter services on Native American reservations in the southwest, as well as shelter medicine in Chicago and at the ASPCA in New York City.
Dr. Benson’s top priority is to provide compassionate and exceptional care to each individual patient. She works seamlessly with MVMC specialists for a continuum of support for your pet throughout hospitalization.
