Veterinary Cardiology
Like humans, our pets can experience a wide variety of heart diseases. The cardiology department at MVMC is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of these cardiac conditions. We offer outpatient diagnostics such as echocardiography and ECG, as well as inpatient services for patients with congestive heart failure or arrhythmias. Our board-certified cardiologist will work closely with you and your primary care veterinarian to determine the best diagnostic and treatment plan for your pet.
A visit with the cardiologist may be prompted by the following findings:
- Arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms)
- Heart murmurs
- Fainting or collapse
- Shortness of breath
- Coughing
- Acute onset of lameness in cats
Services we have available:
- Echocardiography
- Electrocardiography (ECG)
- Holter monitors
- Blood pressure measurement
- Measurement of cardiac biomarkers
- Inpatient management of heart failure and arrhythmias
